Well, the results are in, and it looks like the rest of the Valley was either struck by stage fright or busy enjoying the sunshine, because we had exactly one brave soul step up to the plate. The answer we were looking for was D — the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Massive congratulations to Susan Klotz, who officially beat out the entire rest of the region to claim this week’s bragging rights!

Last year, we sent our readers off for Father’s Day at the shore, but this year, we’re keeping it local. Because let’s be honest, dads are simple creatures. While roses might not be every dad’s favorite, the gardens are in full bloom by mid-June, making it the perfect backdrop for new photos with Dad. Wander the shaded paths, take in the fragrant roses, and enjoy a leisurely morning together. It’s relaxed, beautiful, and a chance to stretch your legs before the rest of the day.

After your walk, it’s time for lunch before heading out further to Collinsville. Your route determines your spot:

After lunch, drive on to Collinsville Canoe & Kayak for some active fun on the Farmington River. Rent a canoe or kayak and enjoy a peaceful float through Connecticut’s scenic outdoors.

It’s perfect for dads who love being on the water and having a bit of an adventure. Paddling fills the afternoon with fun and fresh air, just remember to pack the sunscreen.
