The Coffee Spot: Where Cozy Meets Community

On a chilly November morning, there’s a very specific kind of comfort in walking into a place where you’re greeted with a smile and zero pressure to rush.

That’s very much the point at The Coffee Spot in Simsbury.

From the beginning, their goal has been to create a space where people can read, relax, rejuvenate, and settle in, whether that means curling up with a book, meeting a friend, or pretending to answer emails while actually people watching. As they put it, they intend to make their spot your spot.

The Coffee Spot lives inside a Victorian home built in the late 1800s, and it shows in the best way. Fireplaces, stained glass, colorful accents, and individually themed rooms give the space a cozy, slightly eclectic feel that makes wandering around to find your chair part of the experience.

Owner Amy had long dreamed of opening her own shop. An avid reader and coffee lover, she wanted to create the kind of place she herself was always searching for. She wanted it to be comfortable, welcoming, and free of the usual at home distractions (laundry, dishes, letting the dog out, repeat). With the support of her husband Jay and their family, that idea became The Coffee Spot.

If you’ve ever seen an event in The Valley Verve and thought, that sounds fun but not intimidating, there’s a strong chance it was happening at The Coffee Spot. Think book clubs, writing workshops, craft nights, acoustic music, vendor markets, and other creative, low-pressure gatherings that feel more like hanging out than “attending an event.”

And if you’re the kind of person who keeps saying “we should get out more” — this is your sign. Because there’s almost always something happening.

Here’s what their hosting over the next few weeks:

  • Modern Calligraphy & Pumpkin Lettering 11/4 at 6 pm

  • Mahjong Night 11/5 at 6 pm

Not just a place to grab a drink.

A place to land.
